Jo's work has always reflected a fascination with nature and its rhythms. The patterns of nature and the elements are constant references. She tends to work in series, making extensive studies of subjects that preoccupy her. These may be close details or larger scenes. She returns to the studio to develop a final work that may evolve from direct observation or from a synthesis of her responses. She likes to work in mixed media incorporating materials such as sand taken from specific sites. Jo trained at Bournville School of Art Birmingham, the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford University and Goldsmith's College London. Her early career was spent painting whilst also assisting with interior decorating and specialist painting projects. She undertook commissioned work including backdrop for the London designer fashion show. Jo later developed her career in art education (secondary and special education). She has recently returned to full-time painting, dividing her time between homes in England and Ireland. Jo's work has been widely exhibited in England and Ireland, including Birmingham, Henley-on-Thames, Maidenhead, Shipston-on-Stour, London and Cork. She has work in permanent collections in England and Ireland. Jo had a solo exhibition with Stark Gallery London in 2004 and we have also represented her at Art Ireland and the Affordable Art Fair.
