The stunning bronze sculptures created by artist Anke Birnie are a stilted image of that natural earthly element "air "combined with the human element "motion". The successful resistance of the body into the wind is tangible to the beholder. Thus radiating certainty and trust from every sculpture. The character of the sculpture stands as solid as a rock and at the same time uploaded with movement. The long limbs and the swirling clothing each have a strong impact on the image. It is as if the circumstances, the time of year, the wind force in autumn and the sentiments that go with it, bear no relationship to the proud, optimistic character of the figure. Standing figures in stilted motion, wrought in one or more persons, characterize the early works of Anke Birnie. The torsos come across as a renewed interpretation of images from the classics of antiquity. Off late, artist Anke Birnie focuses on the relationship between sculpture and surroundings. She positions her figures sitting on a low wall. Then she decided to adorn the walls of the house with these figures. Emotional sensations radiating from them, almost evolve from a three dimensional into a two dimensional form of art. In the end the low wall supporting the bronze figure is not deemed to be necessary at all and the sculpting solution Anke Birnie arrives at, is highly innovative: hanging sculptures. In this way the three dimensional aspect has entered her contemporary works of art anew. Works of art by Anke Birnie are represented in several corporate collections, all on view to the public and in private collections of a great many art connoisseurs world wide. .
